The Team

Pastor Yonas Seifu is the Senior Pastor of Covenant Church and the Visionary of Covenant Development Association. Pastor Yonas Seifu is married to RahelGoshu and has two sons, Elijah, 18, and Jonathan,14.
Our God is a very compassionate God. One of the ways we know of his compassion is His love for children. One time when parents brought their children to Jesus to lay hands upon and bless them, His disciples were indignant and tried to stop them.
Our joy is to see destitute and miserable children find hope and love by giving them a home.
The Church, the body of Christ, is God’s outstretched hands sent to minister love and blessing to the poor. Among the poor, orphans and widows are exceptionally close to the heart of the Father (James 1:27); Thus, Covenant Development Association’s passion to reach out to the poor (with particular emphasis to the orphans) is drawn from the passion of the Lord.
Eighteen years have passed since Covenant Orphanages was established based on James 1:27. Through the years, we have seen the hand of God working in our ministry freeing children from poverty and giving them family, home and hope.
There have been many heart-breaking moments working among the poorest of poor.
Though the families that we have reached through our ministry are few, we believe that the few will make a huge difference in their society in the coming years. Jesus used two fishes and five loaves of bread to feed the multitude and we have faith that God will use the few that we have reached to change their villages, towns, cities and Ethiopia as a whole.

We believe that we are instrumental as the hands and feet of Jesus in our community and our country as we serve the needy.
PROJECT STAFF MEMBERS
CDA’s greatest gifts are the staff that works on site. They are responsible for the holistic ministry that all the children living in Covenant orphanages are receiving. We have seen children close to death revived and flourishing in their loving hands. God has blessed them with so much love and cares that they work day and night with a servant’s heart for the poor and needy. They are mothers to the motherless. They give sacrificially, looking into God’s future of hope and happiness to the now orphaned children. We are honored to have them as part of the CDA staff.
