Although the term “orphanage” is often used to describe the ministry of CDA, a more appropriate term is “foster care.” CDA provides foster care until children are able to be adopted into families.
Desiring to care not only for our children’s physical needs but their spiritual needs, as well, CDA only allows between 10-12 orphaned children in a home at one time. Our long-term goal for the children is that they find a family that will nurture them spiritually, physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially.
Currently, Covenant has 22 children in two homes, one in Holeta, a town in the Oromia region located 34 km west of Addis Ababa, and one in Shone in the Southern Region located 338 km south of Addis Ababa.
Many children have a difficult past…but we believe in God’s bright future! As the Bible says, “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father’” (Romans 8:15). Many children still await the love and hope God has offered them! We facilitate local adoption, enabling children to be raised up in families and become whom God intended them to be. Over the last thirteen years, CDA has placed more than fifty children into a loving and caring family.
